Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview of the trends. You successfully identified the main features, such as the growth in retail and healthcare and the decline in agriculture. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between sectors at specific points in time, rather than just listing data for each category individually. The overview is present but could be more integrated into the structure. Overall, you have provided a solid summary of the data provided in the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'In contrast' and 'on the other hand' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions. For instance, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but the punctuation around some cohesive devices is inconsistent, which slightly affects the overall readability of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'employment sector', 'upward trend', and 'steady increase'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'rose up' instead of 'rose' or 'it is increased' which is grammatically incorrect. While you attempt to use a variety of descriptive language, some of the phrasing is repetitive. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding basic errors in word form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'in the United state' (capitalization/pluralization), 'it is increased' (incorrect verb tense/passive voice usage), and inconsistent capitalization at the start of sentences (e.g., 'on the other hand', 'by 2020'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent sentence punctuation will significantly improve your accuracy.
