Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the content is underdeveloped. While you identify some trends, the analysis is superficial and lacks a clear overview of the main features. You have not provided sufficient data points or comparisons to support your descriptions. For example, the description of the agricultural sector is inaccurate based on typical graph data, and the lack of detail regarding the specific timeframes and figures makes the summary incomplete. To improve, ensure you provide a clear overview, select key data points to support your claims, and meet the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction that effectively paraphrases the prompt, and the paragraphing is non-existent or poorly managed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'there is'. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences are not logically linked. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks for different sectors or trends, and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'subsequently', 'meanwhile') to guide the reader through your analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic phrases like 'there is' and 'number of jobs'. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'linearly increasing in number of job sector' and 'contantly low'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to use more precise verbs and nouns related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant decline'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'the line graph illustrate') and missing articles (e.g., 'starting from manufacture sector'). The sentence structures are simple and lack the complexity needed for higher bands. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and incorrect spacing. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensure subject-verb agreement, and practice using complex structures like relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to combine your ideas more effectively.
