Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the graph but fails to provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends effectively. While it mentions the four sectors, the description of the data is often inaccurate or confusing, such as the claim that the Agriculture sector offered 'any job' in 2000, which is unclear. The comparison between sectors is underdeveloped and lacks precision. To improve, you should focus on identifying the overall trends (e.g., the decline of agriculture versus the rise of healthcare) and support these with accurate data points from the graph. The response lacks a clear summary of the main features, which is essential for Task 1.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'Moreover', 'Similarly'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between years and sectors. For example, the transition between the 1980 and 2000 data points is abrupt. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and use a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly. Improving the structure of your sentences will help the reader follow your analysis of the trends more easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'comparision', 'availbility', and 'manufactuirng'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends precisely; for instance, using 'impresively good increase' is not appropriate for an academic report. You should aim to use more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant decline'. Expanding your range of academic collocations will help you convey information more professionally and accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'The figure illustrate', 'The graph show') and incorrect sentence structures. The use of articles is inconsistent, and there are errors in preposition usage. While you attempt to use complex structures, they are often inaccurate, which can impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Proofreading for common errors like these will significantly improve the clarity and quality of your writing.
