Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to cover the main trends in the four sectors, mentioning figures for manufacturing, retail, agriculture, and healthcare. However, there are significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, the student states that healthcare was the only sector to decline, whereas the line graph clearly shows healthcare rising from 2 million in 1960 to 16 million in 2020. Similarly, the overview contains a major contradiction by claiming all other sectors rapidly rose from small to high amounts, while agriculture actually dropped significantly from 6 million to 2 million. Furthermore, irrelevant concepts such as 'salery' are introduced. These inaccuracies and misinterpretations prevent the response from fully addressing the task requirements, placing it firmly at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into four paragraphs, including an introduction and an overall concluding summary. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed and confusing due to inaccurate data reporting and poor cohesion. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or incorrectly, such as 'To start with,' 'Moving further,' and 'Overall, only decline was seen in healthcare jobs.but all others was rapdelly rise'. The referencing between pronouns, categories, and years is frequently unclear, requiring the reader to guess the intended meaning. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal logical development is weak, aligning with the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally impede understanding. Examples include 'differnt' for different, 'salery' for salary, 'milloin' for million, 'beganing' for beginning, 'rapidelly' for rapidly, 'rapedially' for rapidly, and 'rapdelly' for rapidly. The student attempts to use less common economic terms such as 'sectors of economy', but control is weak and imprecise. The limited range of vocabulary and high frequency of lexical errors are characteristic of a Band 4.5 to 5.0 performance, best represented by a band score of 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammatical structures attempted are very limited and heavily flawed. The text contains numerous basic errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and sentence construction. Examples include 'The given line chart illustrate', 'job start with high salery', 'decline was showed', 'it start with 5.5 milloin jobs', and 'all others was rapdelly rise'. Complex structures are largely absent, and simple sentences frequently contain grammatical slips that cause difficulty for the reader. Control over punctuation and sentence boundaries is also weak. This profile matches the Band 5.0 criteria.
