Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student attempts to address all parts of the prompt by identifying the four sectors and summarising their trends between 1960 and 2020. However, the overview lacks precision ('manufcturing industry and agriculture continously were declining'), as agriculture actually started at 6 million, dropped, and remained flat for a long period rather than continuously declining in the same manner as manufacturing. Furthermore, some data points are inaccurate or poorly expressed, such as claiming the agriculture department started at five million jobs when the chart indicates 6 million. The response meets the minimum word count, but the lack of accurate reporting and a fully cohesive overview limits the score to Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is divided into rudimentary paragraphs, but the overall structure and cohesion are weak. The introduction is split into two disjointed sentences, and the main body paragraphs lack clear progression and logical connector usage. The student uses basic transitional phrases like 'To commence with' and 'on the other hand', but referencing and linking within sentences are frequently faulty (e.g., 'afterthat, it continously decline till 2020. the agriculture department...'). Paragraphing is barely adequate to separate the introduction, overview, and body details, resulting in a Band 5.0 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, featuring numerous spelling and word-choice errors that detract from the response. Examples include 'workfore' for workforce, 'manufcturing' for manufacturing, 'substanial growing' for substantially growing, 'statrted' for started, and 'Healtcare' for healthcare. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'departments' and 'significantly', the high frequency of lexical slips and incorrect word forms ('retail begin', 'increases double in number') restricts the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. There are multiple tense inconsistencies and missing auxiliary verbs, such as 'manufacturing sector was provided 15 millions of jobs' and 'Healtcare and retails sectors significantly inreases'. Punctuation is also poorly handled, with run-on clauses and missing capitalisation at the start of sentences (e.g., 'the agriculture department', 'on the other hand'). Because errors occur frequently and occasionally impede smooth reading, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
