Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The student attempts to report the main features of the line graph showing job trends in four sectors between 1960 and 2020. However, there are significant factual inaccuracies in reading the data, such as stating that 'healthcare Jobs in 2 millions in 1960' (which is correct) but then stating 'retail 10 million' for 1980 when the chart indicates retail was actually 10 million in 1980 (though the prose is muddled). Furthermore, referring to 'democracy' instead of 'economy' and severe data confusion in the final paragraph prevent a fully clear overview. While the main trends (increasing retail and healthcare versus decreasing agriculture and fluctuating manufacturing) are partially identified, the numerous data misinterpretations restrict the score to a 4.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text is divided into four paragraphs, which shows an attempt at logical structure (introduction, overview, and two body paragraphs split by rising versus falling trends). However, progression is frequently disrupted by confusing sentence structures, incorrect linking phrases like 'In the first hand' and 'On the other hand', and poorly managed referencing. Cohesive devices are often inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, making the overall arrangement difficult to follow. The flow is frequently broken by abrupt, ungrammatical transitions between clauses.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary range is basic and heavily flawed by spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'illustrate' instead of 'illustrates', 'democracy' instead of 'economy', 'Reatil' instead of 'Retail', 'Agricultre' instead of 'Agriculture', and awkward collocations like 'are boost after the many years'. Less common vocabulary is attempted (e.g., 'sector', 'fluctuate'), but misuse of terms such as 'ratio' and non-standard phrasing like 'highest 15 jobs in million' severely limit lexical adequacy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The student relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex structures are consistently faulty. There are persistent subject-verb agreement errors ('The line graph illustrate', 'Retail and healthcare are boost'), missing auxiliary verbs ('healthcare Jobs in 2 millions'), and incorrect prepositions ('in 1960 to 2020'). Punctuation is also erratic, with frequent run-on clauses and comma splices. Errors are pervasive and frequently cause difficulty for the reader.
