Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the task by reporting the main trends and features of the four economic sectors shown in the graph. The overview captures the general upward trend in Retail and Healthcare alongside the downward trends in Manufacturing and Agriculture. However, there are notable inaccuracies in reporting specific data points. For instance, the student states that manufacturing 'increased significantly upto 20 million after that it accidently rose down and remained approximately 13 million only,' which lacks precise referencing to the years 1960 and 2020. Furthermore, data values are occasionally imprecise, such as describing 2.5 million for Healthcare in 1960 when the graph indicates 2 million. While the main features are highlighted, the support is somewhat vague and underdeveloped, placing it firmly in the Band 5.0 range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into four paragraphs, including an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. There is a basic attempt to sequence information logically using transitional phrases such as 'To begin with' and 'Further analyzing the graph.' However, overall progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical cohesive devices. Paragraphing is present, but the internal cohesion of sentences is sometimes faulty, such as the abrupt transitions between ideas within the body paragraphs. Pronoun referencing and signposting are basic and occasionally cause confusion for the reader. This meets the criteria for Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with several lexical errors and non-standard collocations throughout the text. Examples include 'econmy' (economy), 'section' (sector), 'accidently rose down', and 'Healthcare era'. While the student attempts less common vocabulary, word choices are frequently inaccurate or unnatural, such as 'suggested for manufacturing' instead of 'employed in manufacturing'. These errors occasionally cause strain for the reader, aligning the lexical range and accuracy with Band 5.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences are simple or attempt complex forms that result in faulty grammar and awkward phrasing, such as 'it can be witnessed number of jobs in Retail and Healthcare section increases in following years' and 'it reached upto the same as for Retail.' Errors in tense consistency, prepositions, and article usage are frequent throughout the text. Although the meaning can generally be discerned despite these errors, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies places this performance at Band 5.0.
