The graph below gives information about the number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the US between 1960 and 2020.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The line graph depicts number of employment across four sectors of US economy, Between 1960 to 2020.

Overall, Healthcare and retail sector shows simollar surge from their respective place in 1960 to reach at highest employement in 2020. Agriculture sector kept plummeting throughout the graph. Manufacturing sector have its up and down.

Primarily, Looking at the prima facia glance, It can be seen that healthcare sector has most number of job at the end of chart, Whereas it had the lowest no. of employes in the 1960. Retail sector has also shown similler surge throughout sixty years period with number of workers sky rocketing from just about 5 million in 1960 to more than 15 million in 2020, Which matches with the number of healthcare sector.

However, Agriculture and manufacturing sector lost the number of jobs by the end of 2020. Agriculture sector had followed delclining trend since start of 1960, wher it had over 5 million jobs to just about 2.5 million jobs in 2020. In case of manufacturing sector which reached its summit in 1980 with 20 million jobs, Which is the highest number any sector ever got to, Declining afterwards to 17 million in 2000 and close to 13 million in 2020.
