Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response attempts to cover the main trends in the four economic sectors, but the data reporting is inaccurate and vague in places. For instance, the student states that manufacturing 'majorly dynamically increased', whereas the chart shows manufacturing rising to 20 million in 1980 before dropping significantly to 13 million in 2020. Similarly, the description of agriculture being 'steady and less decreased' misses the precise movement shown in the graph. The overview is rudimentary and lacks a clear, comprehensive summary of the overall trends. Consequently, the response meets the minimum requirements for addressing the task, but lacks precise data selection and accurate reporting, aligning closely with Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text is divided into three paragraphs (introduction, overall, and detail), which demonstrates a basic structure. However, the logical progression within and between sentences is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, run-on structures, and disjointed phrases like 'along side there are 4 years displayed'. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, leading to a mechanical and confusing flow. Referencing is weak, and paragraphing lacks internal cohesion, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of data across the years. This performance reflects Band 5 criteria for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several noticeable word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'employement', 'financial system', 'feild', and 'categeory'. The student attempts to use some less common vocabulary ('dynamically increased', 'gradually increased'), but these attempts are often inaccurate or inappropriately applied to the data. Spelling errors are frequent (e.g., 'employement', 'feild', 'categeory', 'manufactuing', 'illustrate' instead of illustrates). While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic topic, the lexical inaccuracies and limited range place this response firmly at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammatical range is restricted, relying heavily on simple structures and faulty attempts at complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, run-on sentences, and missing prepositions or articles (e.g., 'The Graph represents data about the number of employement', 'healthcare sector was increased dynamically in last 40 years'). Punctuation is also poorly handled, with run-on clauses linked improperly without adequate conjunctions or terminal punctuation. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from achieving a higher band, corresponding to a Band 5 score.
