The graph below gives information about the number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the US between 1960 and 2020.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The graph chart illustrates the number of job in UK in four different catagories of economy : manufacturing, retail, agriculture and healthcare between the time period of 1960 to 2020.

In the early period of 1960, almost 2.5 millions of people had a profession in health industry, where the number of people on other sector was quite high. Approximately 6 million people had a job both in healthcare and agricultral exam. But the manufacturing was on top comparing with other

with a number of almost 15 millions people. After two decades, the number of employment on each sector had changed considerably. An upward trend was noticed on manufacturing, retail and healthcare factors job records. The number of job rised to 20% for manufacturing, 10%, for retail and 5% for healthcare.But an opposite trend was observed on argiculture industry. The number of farming related jobs were almost 3 millions in 1980. The rate flactuated again after a couple of decades in every sector. In 2000,the number of jobs in agriculture sector didnot alter too much than the last decade. The number jumped to 15% for retail and approximate 11% for healthcare services. However, there was a gradual decline on the manufacturing sectors job and the number decremented to around 17%. By the end of the period of 2020, the chart followed previous decades upward and downward flow and reached around 16% fror both reatil and healthcare.The number of jobs in manifacturing reached to about 13% and the number of agriculture retaled job fell a little and reached at around 2%.

Overall, in the early period, manufacturing industry was on top in terms of making employment. But after 1980, it has been declining that oppurtunity gradually. Moreover, the most impactful sector for giving or getting job was reatil and healthcre sector.
