Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover all four sectors of the economy shown in the graph between 1960 and 2020. However, the analysis lacks a clear overview or summary of the main trends, which is a key requirement for Academic Task 1. Some data points are described generally rather than precisely, such as stating retail increased around 15 million jobs when the graph shows it reached 16 million by 2020 starting from 6 million. The conclusion introduces speculative personal opinions ('due to bad health of individuals', 'people of United States are more interasting'), which is inappropriate for an academic report. While the main features are touched upon, the lack of a proper overview and the inclusion of irrelevant personal commentary keeps this criterion at band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow and progression are weak. The introduction is immediately followed by a body paragraph that mixes manufacturing and agriculture without clear structuring. Sequencing words like 'Firstly', 'Then', and 'While' are used, but their mechanical application often results in confusion rather than clarity. Referencing is also problematic; for instance, phrases like 'There are other two sectors are increase promptly' and 'sand in front of retail' create awkward transitions and make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is frequently faulty and repetitive, reflecting the descriptors for band 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently hampered by word-choice and spelling errors. Examples include 'dereased' for decreased, 'interasting' for interested, and awkward phrasing such as 'quantity of jobs in four divisions of economy' instead of 'number of jobs in four economic sectors'. Less common lexical items are attempted, but they are either misspelled or collocationally inaccurate (e.g., 'look part' instead of 'take part', 'bad health of individuals'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey a basic outline of the chart, the frequency of lexical errors and limited range restrict the score to band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex or compound structures are frequently faulty, such as 'The graph below offers the information about quantity of jobs... which are manufacturing, retail, agriculture and healthcare' and 'There are other two sectors are increase promptly'. Tense consistency is poorly handled, shifting inappropriately between past and present forms ('Manufacturing was growing... Then, it dereased... retail firstly stand...'). Frequent grammatical errors cause distraction and require the reader to work harder to understand the intended meaning, matching the standard for a band 5.0.
