Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response covers the main trends in the four economic sectors, identifying that retail and healthcare experienced an upward trend while agriculture declined. However, the student fails to meet the minimum word length requirement of 150 words, coming in at 135 words. Furthermore, the report contains confusing data references and inaccurate figures, particularly in the body paragraph where the description of the trends becomes disjointed and difficult to follow. The overview is present but brief, and the lack of sufficient detail and word count limits the score to Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into short paragraphs, but the overall organization and logical progression are weak. While transitional phrases like 'Overall' and 'Looking at the details' are used, the sentences within the body paragraph lack logical cohesion and are heavily confused in their referencing. For instance, phrases like 'the process begin with number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the Us' create a confusing flow. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the second paragraph fails to guide the reader effectively, resulting in a Band 5.0 rating.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates a limited range of vocabulary with noticeable errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'experienxed' instead of experienced. Expressions like 'retail job ration' and 'jobs in million' are awkward and imprecise. While some topic-related vocabulary such as 'economy', 'trend', and 'decline' is attempted, the frequent inaccuracies in word choice and collocation cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher score, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors and awkward structures, such as 'it is evident that the process begin with number of jobs' and 'so healthcare ratio almost same to in 2020 year in jobs in million in 15 millions'. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are poorly managed, leading to run-on sentences that impede communication. These frequent errors across basic and complex structures place the grammar at a Band 5.0 level.
