Student answer (Band 5.0)
The graph provides an information about the trends of numbers of jobs in four sectors of the economy of US from the year [redacted phone].The four sectors discussed includes manufacturing, retail, agriculture, and healthcare.
As the graph shows that number of jobs in manufacturing industries increases to 20 from 1960 to 1980 followed by decrease in numbers from 20 to 16 from 1980 to 2000. The number continuously decreases from 16 to12 from the year 2000 to 2020. Looking at the retail sector,it shows an increase in the number of jobs to10 from 1960 to 1980 and the number continue increasing from 10 to 15 from the year 1980 to 2000. After 2000 this sector shows a small growth in the number of jobs from 15 to almost 16,upto the year 2020.
Next is the agriculture. It shows a decline in the number of jobs from 6 to 2 in the years 1960 to 1980 with the constant number of jibs from 1980 to 2000 with the again decline in numbers from 2 to 1 in the years 2000 to 2020.now the healthcare sectors shows continue increase in the jobs from years 1960 to 2020 with numbers increasing from 5 to 10 and then 10 to 15 and then 15 to 16.
So retail and healthcare shows increase in number of jobs where manufacturing firstly showed increase and then decrease and health care shows continuous decrease in number of jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response attempts to cover the main features of the graph, but it addresses the task only partially. There is no clear overall overview provided to summarise the main trends, which limits the development of the response. Furthermore, some of the data reported contains inaccuracies or confusion regarding the sectors, such as the concluding summary incorrectly stating that healthcare showed a continuous decrease when the data clearly shows it rising. The selection of data lacks precision, and the mechanical listing of numbers without a clear overarching structure keeps the task achievement at a lower level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation in the response, but it lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas is somewhat disjointed, and the final concluding paragraph contains contradictory statements about the trends. Cohesive devices are basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple time markers like 'from 1960 to 1980' and 'then', with some referencing issues such as missing pronouns and abrupt transitions between sentences and paragraphs, creating a choppy reading experience.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic information about the chart. There are noticeable errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'provides an information', 'trends of numbers of jobs', and 'constant number of jibs'. Spelling mistakes like 'upto' and punctuation errors such as missing spaces after commas also occur. While the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the general topic, these frequent lexical and mechanical slips restrict the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences. Attempts at more complex structures are often faulty or missing necessary articles, as seen in phrases like 'Next is the agriculture' and 'healthcare sectors shows continue increase'. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'four sectors discussed includes', 'retail and healthcare shows') and tense usage. These persistent errors frequently cause difficulty or hesitation for the reader.
