Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response responds to the task only minimally and tangentially. While the writer attempts to introduce the chart, the overview is extremely confused and fails to present a clear picture of the overall trends. The specific details provided are largely inaccurate and fail to properly report the data from the graph; for example, confusing employment numbers and misinterpreting the direction of trends for manufacturing, retail, and agriculture. The attempt to select and report main features is undermined by fragmented, unintelligible sentences that do not successfully summarize the information.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

Information and ideas are not arranged coherently in this response. The text lacks logical organization and progression, making it very difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is disjointed and chaotic. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, resulting in abrupt transitions between sentences, such as the sudden shifts between different economic sectors without clear linking or referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily flawed. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'reated' for related, 'occopation' for occupation, 'featurs' for features, and 'dicrease' for decrease. Word choice and word formation are frequently inappropriate, leading to awkward phrasing like 'digits of occopation' or 'retail price in economy'. These lexical errors and limitations severely strain the reader's ability to understand the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, with frequent and severe errors that distort meaning. There are fundamental issues with basic grammar, including incorrect verb tenses, missing or incorrect prepositions, and faulty sentence construction. Many sentences are fragmented or incomplete, such as 'The data by selecting the main featurs and comparisons, with there relevance.' Grammatical errors are pervasive throughout the entire text, creating constant difficulty for the reader.
