Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features, trends, and comparisons of the four economic sectors between 1960 and 2020. An overview is provided that correctly highlights the main upward trends in healthcare and retail alongside the downward trends in manufacturing and agriculture. Key data points, such as the initial and final values for employment, are selected and reported accurately, meeting the requirements for a solid performance. Ideas are well-supported with figures from the graph, though a slightly more extended comparison between sectors could elevate the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The report presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from the introduction to the overview and body paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different sectors and themes. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and referencing between sentences could be smoother. While basic cohesive devices are employed, more varied linking phrases would enhance the flow and elevate the organization to the next level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to economic trends, such as 'consistently', 'steady decline', and 'significantly'. However, there are notable word choice and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'number of employment' instead of 'level of employment', 'Retails' instead of 'Retail', 'roughtly', 'mililions', and 'throughtout'. These errors do not impede communication but demonstrate the limitations characteristic of this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

A mix of simple and complex sentence forms is attempted, with examples of time clauses and comparative structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'Jobs in manufacturing sector was' and missing or incorrect articles, such as 'in the america'. Punctuation is also sparse, particularly with missing full stops at the end of the text and introductory sentences. These errors occur frequently enough to remind the reader of this level, although they rarely completely impede comprehension.
