Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by selecting and reporting the main features of the graph, presenting a clear overview of the overall trends. You successfully identified that healthcare and retail experienced significant increases while agriculture declined. However, some areas are under-developed or contain inaccuracies; for instance, the description of manufacturing includes a typo and an unfinished thought ('delined gradually from 2o million to .'), and the agriculture figures are slightly misread compared to the visual data. To reach a higher band, all data points should be reported accurately and supported fully without any trailing omissions or factual discrepancies.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The text maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression from an introductory sentence to an overview paragraph, followed by detailed body points. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the summary from the specific trends. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, referencing and linking between sentences could be smoother, and cohesive devices like 'Whereas' and 'Thereafter' are occasionally used awkwardly. To improve cohesion further, ensure that referencing is precise and that transitions between contrasting data points flow more naturally without abrupt shifts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'substantial increase', 'considerable fall', and 'steady rising trend'. However, there are noticeable word choice, spelling, and word form errors that prevent a higher score, such as 'job' instead of 'jobs', 'sectore' instead of 'sector', 'availbility' instead of 'availability', 'higest' instead of 'highest', and 'manufactoring' instead of 'manufacturing'. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary with greater precision and eliminate these recurring spelling and word-form inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response makes use of a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structures. You correctly employed complex structures such as 'it can be seen that...' and 'while agriculture sectore had...'. However, there are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles (e.g., 'illustrates number of job' instead of 'illustrates the number of jobs'), typos in numbers ('2o million'), and an incomplete sentence ending abruptly ('to .'). These errors indicate the persistence of grammatical slips. To reach a higher band, you should aim to increase the proportion of error-free complex sentences and carefully proofread your work.
