Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially, attempting to present an overview and select features from the visual data, though the information is sometimes imprecise or confusingly expressed. For instance, the student states that the Manufacturing sector 'increases the jobs in 1960 to 20%', which misinterprets the axis units as percentages rather than millions. The overview section contains awkward phrasing ('setter trend', 'slope moving upwards steadily') and attempts to summarise trends, but some descriptions are vague or lack clear support from the actual figures. Furthermore, the final sentence introduces a personal opinion ('In my opinion, Heatlh sector is the most best sector...'), which is unnecessary for an Academic Task 1 response and reflects a lack of clarity in maintaining an objective reporting position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation in the response, with an introductory sentence followed by body paragraphs addressing different economic sectors. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the flow is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and non-standard paragraphing choices, such as beginning sentences with conversational markers like 'Firstly, we talk about'. Cohesive devices are often used inaccurately or mechanically. For example, referencing and tracking across the data points become repetitive and difficult to follow, as seen in the abrupt transitions between sectors without adequate linking phrases or logical sequencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors and inappropriate word choices that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student frequently misapplies terms related to data trends, such as 'uprises', 'slope moving upwards', and 'job selecting and reporting criterea'. There are also recurrent spelling and word-form errors, including 'inovation', 'Heatlh', and 'most best'. While the student attempts less common vocabulary, the inaccuracies in collocation and word choice reveal a restricted lexical range for formal academic reporting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside poorly constructed complex attempts. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb tenses, articles, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns. Examples include 'faces decline in their jobs', 'is the most lowest', and 'Retail sector involves the high ratio of jobs'. Furthermore, punctuation is weak, and subject-verb agreement issues frequently occur. These persistent errors demand extra effort from the reader to decipher the intended meaning, reflecting basic control over sentence construction.
