Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response partially addresses the task by attempting to report the main trends in the line graph, such as the overall rise in retail and healthcare jobs and the decline in agriculture and manufacturing. However, the information presented is at times inaccurate or difficult to follow due to imprecise reporting of the data. For example, stating that manufacturing increased from 1960 to 1980 and then declined is partially correct, but the description of other sectors lacks precise comparative detail and key data points are missed or muddled. The overview at the end attempts to summarise the general direction of the sectors, but overall the ideas remain limited, mechanical, and under-developed, preventing a more thorough exploration of the visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organisation in the response, moving from an introductory description into body details and a concluding summary, but there is no clear overall progression. The paragraphing is fragmented, with single-sentence paragraphs and a very short conclusion that fails to develop logically. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'At one side of line graph', 'At lasts', and 'So that all four sectors jobs', which disrupts the flow of the text. Referencing is also weak, making it difficult to follow the logical connections between sentences and ideas throughout the report.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with frequent lexical errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are noticeable issues with word choice and word formation, such as 'jobs level', 'retail setup jobs', 'agriculture level jobs', and 'healthcare provider jobs' instead of standard sectoral terms. Additionally, basic spelling and vocabulary control issues appear, such as 'rised' instead of 'rose', and repetitive phrasing like 'increased with the time' and 'decreased from 1960 to 1980', indicating a restricted range of vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex or descriptive structures that turn out faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions, such as 'Their are four sectors', 'no of jobs... is increased', and 'in 1980 remain constant to 2000'. Punctuation is also poorly handled, with spaces before commas and periods. These persistent errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak grasp of grammatical control.
