Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting an overview and reporting the main features of the four economic sectors between 1960 and 2020. The selection of data is generally accurate, noting the steady growth in healthcare and retail alongside the contrasting trends in manufacturing and agriculture. However, some parts are under-developed or contain minor inaccuracies, such as stating that healthcare and retail started with '5 millions jobs and retails had 10 millions jobs' in 1960, which misinterprets the graph where healthcare started at 2 million and retail at 6 million. The overview captures the main trends well, but the lack of precise data handling in places keeps the response at this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to group information logically, separating the growing sectors from the declining ones. Paragraphing is used to structure the ideas, starting with an introduction and overview, followed by body paragraphs detailing the specific trends. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the abrupt transition in the final paragraph starting with 'In contrast, other two sectors had a decrease'. Cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'In contrast', and 'So' are used, but some sentences feel disjointed, preventing a smoother progression throughout the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts to use less common items such as 'dramatice decrease', 'contineous groeth', and 'static'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'diffeent' instead of 'different', 'economical areas' instead of 'economic sectors', 'contineous' instead of 'continuous', and 'Agriclture' instead of 'Agriculture'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, their frequency and the reliance on basic or slightly inaccurate phrasing restrict the lexical score to this band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'The line graph shows the number of jobs...' and 'Total number of jobs in two sectors had increase...'. There are several grammatical errors in verb tenses, articles, and prepositions, including missing articles ('in US', 'at same point') and awkward phrasing like 'the peassage of time within 20 years, healthcare sectors opened for 5 millions jobs'. Despite these errors, the meaning can generally be understood and they rarely completely impede communication, reflecting a control typical of this level.
