Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to address all parts of the task by describing the main sectors in the graph, but it only does so partially. The overview is inaccurate and contradictory, incorrectly stating that manufacturing's economy is the highest in 1980 and that agriculture is increasing rapidly, when agriculture actually declined significantly. Key features are reported, such as the peak of manufacturing and the growth of healthcare, but there are multiple inaccuracies in reading the data, such as claiming retail and healthcare were 16 millions in 2020 while later mentioning agriculture was 3 million in 2020 (when it was around 2 million). The ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed due to these recurring data misinterpretations and weak overall summarisation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation with attempts to structure the response into paragraphs and use sequencing phrases like 'To start with' and 'Additionally'. However, there is no clear overall progression or logical flow between ideas, resulting in a somewhat disjointed structure. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or inaccurately, such as 'While, Agriculture is increase rapidly', and referencing is occasionally unclear or repetitive, particularly in how data points are introduced and contrasted. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs remains weak and lacks smooth transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors that stem from a restricted lexical range, such as 'number of works', 'four parts of the money', and describing economic sectors as 'highest economy sectors'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary result in awkward phrasing or misuse of terms. While the reader can generally follow the intent, these lexical inadequacies and inaccuracies cause some difficulty and prevent the response from achieving a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex or passive structures that are faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense misuse like 'demostrates data', subject-verb agreement issues such as 'agriculture was same accounted', incorrect verb forms like 'Agriculture is increase rapidly', and missing articles. These persistent errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control over basic grammatical structures.
