Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at 83 words. Consequently, it only responds to the task minimally. While an overview is attempted and some data is reported, such as manufacturing figures in 1960 and 1980, the development is severely truncated and stops mid-sentence in the final paragraph. To improve, the student must ensure the response is fully completed and covers all trends across the entire time period provided in the visual data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response exhibits some basic organisation, utilizing an introductory sentence, a brief overview paragraph, and the start of a detail paragraph. However, there is no clear overall progression due to the incomplete nature of the writing. Cohesive devices are minimal, with some mechanical transitions such as 'overall', 'in 1960', and 'however'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final section is left dangling as a single broken sentence. To progress, the writer needs to logically group information and use a wider range of cohesive links to connect sentences smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, featuring basic terms related to data trends like 'increased', 'declined', and 'decreased'. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'how many numbers of job' instead of 'the number of jobs', and awkward phrasing like 'moreover 13 millions' instead of 'and 13 million'. Spelling and word choice are generally understandable, but the limited range and lack of precision restrict the score. To improve, the student should incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary and precise reporting language without making collocation or word-form errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying on simple statements with frequent grammatical errors. There are issues with articles and plurals, such as 'in United states' instead of 'in the United States' and '15 millions' instead of '15 million'. Punctuation is weak, demonstrated by lowercase letters at the beginning of new sentences following periods, as seen in '15 millions. this figure' and 'decreased to17 millions in 2000 moreover 13 millions'. Frequent errors and faulty complex structures hinder overall readability.
