Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the four sectors and report several key movements: manufacturing rises to a peak before declining, retail grows, healthcare increases, and agriculture falls. These are relevant features, and the approximate figures for manufacturing and retail are mostly consistent with the graph. However, the overview is unclear: “three sectors is amost very high” does not explain the main comparison, and it incorrectly suggests three sectors are similarly high. By 2020, retail and healthcare are joint highest at about 16 million, while manufacturing is lower and agriculture is lowest. Healthcare’s starting figure is also misreported as about 5 million rather than 2 million. To strengthen the response, give a precise overview and compare the sectors’ final positions and contrasting trends.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to descriptions of the sectors and then an overall statement. Some sequencing is understandable, and words such as “However” and “At the end” signal changes over time. Nevertheless, the progression is not consistently clear: manufacturing and retail are discussed together in one paragraph, while healthcare and agriculture are grouped in another without a clear comparison. Repeated, vague references such as “its” and “this year” also make it difficult to track which sector or period is meant. The final overview repeats a general claim rather than bringing the main trends together. Use one paragraph for the overview and organise the details by clear comparisons or sector groups, with explicit references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “increased,” “downfall,” “sector,” and “equal,” so the reader can recognise the general trends being described. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “very enogh,” “normally high,” and “crossed 15.” Spelling errors—including “Manufacturig,” “increaed,” “yera,” and “grapgh”—also reduce clarity and control. Some phrases, such as “its go to downfall,” do not express the intended trend naturally. Build a more precise set of trend expressions, for example “rose to,” “declined to,” “remained stable,” and “reached a similar level,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to describe changes across several time points and use some linking structures, including “However” and “which was.” However, sentence structures are mostly simple or incomplete, and errors in verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction occur frequently. For example, “manufacturing is at 15 million rate” and “its further increaed” do not form accurate descriptions of past data; “three sectors is” also has incorrect subject–verb agreement. The repeated use of “its” in place of a clear subject makes relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise past-tense reporting with complete subject–verb sentences, such as “Manufacturing stood at 15 million in 1960, then rose to 20 million in 1980.” Add more varied but controlled sentence patterns.
