Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad trends in retail, healthcare and agriculture, and your overview also notes that manufacturing fluctuated. However, the report is incomplete: it gives no figures or trend details for agriculture or manufacturing, and healthcare is described only at its starting and ending points. The chart shows manufacturing rising to about 20 million in 1980 before falling to 13 million, while agriculture declines from 6 million to 2 million. The response also contains only 90 words, below the required 150, so the key features are not sufficiently selected and reported. To improve, include a fuller overview and compare the main changes with relevant figures across all four sectors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic, sensible structure: an introduction, an overview and a paragraph describing retail and healthcare. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “In the beginning years” and “Same overall trends” help signal the intended progression. However, the report stops before covering all the sectors, so the information does not develop into a complete comparison. The final sentence beginning “Same overall trends” is also a fragment, and “In 2020” starts a short, disconnected sentence. Organise the details into clearer comparison groups—for example, rising sectors together and declining or fluctuating sectors together—and use complete sentences with references that make each comparison clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “increasing,” “downwards trend” and “fluctuations,” and the main subject remains understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “amount of jobs,” “number of job,” “available seats” for jobs, and “it hits the number 16.” There are also spelling errors in “healtcare,” “contineously” and “accoss,” which reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language and accurate sector names: for example, describe the number of jobs as rising, falling or reaching a figure, and use “employment” or “jobs” consistently. Proofreading spelling and collocations would make the report clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the overview uses a contrast with “while” and “However.” Nevertheless, grammatical control is uneven, with errors in agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “retail and healtcare are contineously increasing the number of job” has an incorrect plural form and an awkward verb pattern; “Same overall trends have noticed” lacks a suitable passive construction; and “As it started with 2 available seats…” is a dependent clause rather than a complete sentence. The opening phrase “about the amount of jobs” is also structurally awkward. Practise complete sentences and accurate subject–verb agreement, and check articles and plural nouns when describing figures.
