The given line graph provides the information about the number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the US between 1960 and 2020 report the main features and comparisons in these sectors.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several important patterns: manufacturing peaks in 1980, agriculture declines, and healthcare rises substantially. However, the overview is unclear and the final sentence repeats manufacturing’s peak rather than summarising the main changes across all four sectors. Some details are inaccurate or imprecise: retail rises from about 6 million to 16 million, while healthcare rises from about 2 million to 16 million; the response groups retail and agriculture together and does not clearly report their separate end points. “Architecture” is not a sector shown in the graph. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview of the contrasting trends and compare the sectors’ positions in 2020, when retail and healthcare are joint highest.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence, moving from manufacturing to other sectors, and uses a few linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “On the other side,” and “However.” These help signal relationships, but the progression is difficult to follow because several trends are combined in one long paragraph and the overview appears only as a vague closing sentence. References such as “other one” and “this number” are not always clear, while “overall considering all important points of views” does not effectively summarise the data. Organise the report into a clear introduction, an overview, and focused detail paragraphs. Discuss each sector’s trend explicitly and use linking words only where they clarify a comparison or change over time.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “peak,” “increased,” “decrease,” and “constant,” so the reader can recognise the general trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “architecture sector” should be “agriculture sector,” “this career got decrease” is not a natural way to describe a falling job total, and “jobs vacancies” does not accurately describe the number of jobs. Spelling errors such as “garph” and “goen” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of trend expressions, such as “rose steadily,” “fell to,” and “remained stable,” and use “employment” or “number of jobs” consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe changes over time and uses some longer sentences, but grammatical control is limited, and errors frequently make the relationships between ideas hard to follow. Examples include “manufacturing sector started with maximum number,” “this go on their peak,” and “in final year become above 15 million.” These show problems with articles, verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. Several clauses are joined without clear punctuation, as in the sentence beginning “On the other side Retail and architecture sector…,” which makes the information difficult to process. Use straightforward, complete sentences first—for example, “Manufacturing employment rose to 20 million in 1980, then fell to 13 million by 2020”—and check tense, articles, and punctuation before attempting longer structures.
