Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the four sectors and attempt to describe their broad directions, including healthcare and retail rising and agriculture declining. However, the overview is unclear and includes an inaccurate claim: healthcare was not the most popular sector throughout the period; manufacturing had the most jobs in 1960, 1980 and 2000, while healthcare only reached about 16 million by 2020, alongside retail. Several figures and trends are missing or imprecise. For example, retail rises from about 6 million to 16 million, but the final increase is not clearly reported, and manufacturing’s peak of 20 million in 1980 is not stated. Agriculture falls from about 6 million to 2 million, rather than from 5 million. Select the key comparisons accurately and give a clear overview of the changing rankings.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, an attempted overview and two body paragraphs, so there is some organisation. The division between rising sectors and declining sectors is potentially useful. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview contains incomplete statements, such as “the Manufacturing jobs Firstly,” and the body moves between years without consistently explaining the comparisons. Linking phrases including “Moreover,” “Not only,” “Secondly,” and “As a result” are sometimes used inaccurately or do not show a clear relationship between ideas. Paragraphing also does not fully compensate for these problems. Organise the report around a concise overview followed by clearly grouped trends, and use straightforward links such as “By contrast” only where the comparison is explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “climb,” “rising,” “soar,” “diminished” and “plummet,” and the reader can generally recognise that you are describing increases and decreases. However, the range is limited by repeated or unsuitable expressions, and noticeable spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to interpret. Examples include “hiking at peak levels,” “significant slowly gwoing,” and “dramatically plummet.” Phrases such as “most popular jobs” are also imprecise for describing employment figures. Use accurate, conventional collocations for data, such as “the number of jobs increased,” “reached a peak,” and “declined steadily,” and check spelling before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to form longer sentences and use time clauses, but control is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors that make the relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “the Healthcare most popular jobs” lacks a complete verb structure, while “it climb slightly to 1980 and 5 millions” has problems with tense, prepositions and sentence construction. Agreement and verb forms are also unreliable in “it was go up” and “it significant slowly gwoing.” Some sentences are fragments or have unclear punctuation, including the manufacturing overview. Build accurate simple sentences first, using a clear subject and verb, then add clauses with correct past-tense forms. Check articles, plural forms and sentence boundaries systematically.
