Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad contrast that retail and healthcare rose while agriculture fell, and you report manufacturing’s rise to 1980 followed by a decline. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: retail did not increase smoothly throughout, and manufacturing also rose before falling. The account misreads key figures and comparisons: healthcare rose from about 2 million in 1960 to 5 million in 1980, not from 5 to 8; retail and healthcare were not equal in 2000 (about 15 and 11 million), and they reached roughly 16 million only in 2020. The final comparison is cut off. The response is also 3 words below the 150-word minimum. Select the main turning points and report them accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: an opening overview is followed by paragraphs that attempt to describe the earlier and later periods. Time markers such as “In 1960 to 1980” and “From 2000” help signal chronology. However, progression is difficult to follow because the discussion shifts between sectors and periods without a consistent comparison, and several sentences are incomplete or unclear, including “it increase 3million from 5 million” and the unfinished final phrase, “less decaresaed compare to manufactu”. Linking is also repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “over the time” and “where”. Group the sectors by their trends, use clear comparisons, and ensure each sentence and paragraph is complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “increased”, “decreased”, “from … to …”, and “million”, so the reader can recognise the intended topic. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “increased smoothly as way as faster way”, “manufacturing econoomy”, “manage and maintain similar”, and “descreased”. “Economy” is also repeatedly used where you mean the number of jobs in a sector. Choose precise trend language and check spelling; avoid repeating general phrases such as “over the time”.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, and the opening sentence gives a clear basic description of the chart. However, grammatical control is weak: errors in tense, agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries occur frequently and sometimes obscure meaning. For example, “it increase 3million from 5 million” lacks consistent tense and a clear subject, while “at the both number of sector equal to eachother” is not a complete grammatical construction. The final sentence is unfinished, and punctuation is often missing after clauses. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, maintain past-tense reporting consistently, and check singular/plural forms and punctuation.
