Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify all four sectors and include several relevant figures, such as manufacturing at 15 million in 1960 and agriculture falling from 6 to 3 million by 1980. However, the account only partially reports the main features, and some figures or trends are inaccurate: manufacturing reached about 20 million in 1980, then fell to 17 million in 2000 and 13 million in 2020, not 16 million in 2000; retail rose to about 16 million by 2020 rather than remaining almost unchanged after 2000. Healthcare began at about 2 million, not 3. The overview is unfinished (“Overall, the number of jobs hig…”), so the key comparisons are not summarised. Check each series against the graph and complete a clear overview of the major trends and end-point leaders.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows a broadly understandable order, moving through manufacturing, retail, agriculture and healthcare, and uses time references to show change. However, it has no effective overall progression because the final overview is cut off, and the repeated pattern of “In 1960…” followed by “Moreover” or “However” makes the report feel like a list rather than a connected summary. Some links are also unclear: “However, it dropped steadily by 4 million” does not specify the period, while “it was a almost same” leaves the comparison imprecise. Grouping the main upward trends together and the declining or stable trend separately, then adding a complete overview, would make the organisation clearer. Use linking words only when the relationship between points is genuinely contrastive or additive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “steady rise,” “sharp rise,” and “dropped,” and the reader can generally identify the sectors and trends being discussed. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as repeated “sharp rise” and “almost the same.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “informatin,” “sharly,” and “milllion,” which reduce accuracy. Some collocations are awkward, for example “the number of jobs in manufacturing jobs.” Aim for concise, accurate chart language and vary verbs such as “increase,” “peak,” “decline,” and “remain stable.” Proofreading spelling and avoiding duplicated nouns would make the description more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few different sentence patterns, including clauses introduced by “However” and “Moreover,” and most of the intended meaning can be followed. Nevertheless, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, articles, agreement and punctuation. Examples include “The linear representation illustrate,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “it was a almost same,” where the article and structure are faulty. The sentence “In 1960, the number of jobs in manufacturing jobs was 15 million” also has an awkward grammatical pattern. Missing spaces after full stops in “1980.It” and “2000.However” further affect accuracy. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and simple comparative structures before adding more complex clauses.
