Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the four sectors and describe several key movements, including manufacturing peaking in 1980 before declining, and retail and healthcare rising by 2020. However, the overview is unclear: “best growth” and “big impact in economy” do not precisely summarise the main pattern. Some figures are inaccurate: in 1960 retail and agriculture were about 6 million, not 5, and healthcare was about 2, not 3; in 1980 agriculture was about 3, not 4. The final manufacturing figure is about 13 million, rather than 14. Your account also misses the important comparison that retail and healthcare both finish at roughly 16 million. Select the main trends accurately and state them clearly in the overview.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is an attempt to organise the response chronologically, moving from 1960 to 1980, 2000 and 2020, and paragraph breaks provide some structure. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview is vague and the body repeatedly shifts between sectors and years within long, loosely connected sentences. Phrases such as “otherhand” and “let start” do not reliably signal the relationship between points, while “in the 19th” is unclear as a reference to a year. The final paragraph largely repeats that some sectors rose and others fell rather than drawing the comparison together. Use a clear overview followed by two focused paragraphs, grouping related trends, and connect comparisons with precise linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “increase,” “drop,” “highest,” and “sectors,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the report hard to interpret, such as “best growth,” “in the 20 palce,” “in the 19th,” and “big impact in economy.” There are also frequent spelling errors, including “nember,” “enconomy,” “Reatil,” and “rapiod,” which reduce clarity and control. Aim for accurate, conventional language for describing data: use “number of jobs,” “reached a peak,” “declined,” and “remained stable.” Check spelling and choose words that describe the graph rather than making unsupported claims about economic impact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to describe changes across several time points, but sentence structures are mostly simple or joined into long, faulty sentences, and grammatical errors often make relationships unclear. For example, “the graph illustrates the nember of employ … changes happen in 24 years” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “the manufacturing have dip to 17” has problems with the verb form and agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries are also frequently missing or misplaced, as in “in highest they two sectors take place Reatil and healthcare.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and practise past-tense forms such as “manufacturing fell” and “healthcare rose.” Shorter sentences with accurate punctuation will make your comparisons easier to understand.
