Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad direction of change: manufacturing rises before falling, while agriculture declines, and you note growth in retail and healthcare. However, the overview is partly inaccurate: manufacturing did not double, and retail rose from 6 to 16 million rather than doubling. Healthcare reached about 16 million in 2020, but retail was also about 16 million, not 15. The response gives few precise comparisons and omits key features, such as manufacturing being the largest sector in 1980 and healthcare’s strong rise. The description of agriculture as decreasing “sequentially” also overlooks its stable level from 1980 to 2000. At 121 words, the response is below the required 150, leaving the task only partially covered. Add accurate figures and a fuller overview of the main rankings and changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, beginning with an introduction and overview before moving to details, and words such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “Meanwhile” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is limited because the same points about rising job figures are repeated, and the paragraphing does not clearly group the four sectors or compare their trends. “While” begins a fragment after the overview, and repeated use of “Meanwhile” does not always signal a clear relationship between the information. Some references, such as “both sectors,” are understandable but could be made more precise. Organise the report into a concise overview and two comparison-focused detail paragraphs, using linking expressions only where they clarify how trends relate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “sector,” “decreased,” “increased,” and “slightly,” so the reader can generally understand the topic and direction of change. However, the range is limited and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “the figure of jobs,” “got 15 millions jobs,” and “sequencely decrease.” “Doubled” is also used inaccurately for trends that did not double, which weakens the description. There is a spelling error in “gragh,” and “America” is repeated where “the US” or “the United States” would be more natural. Build a more precise set of trend and comparison expressions, and check collocations and spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple statements and more complex forms, including “Overall, with the passage of time…” and a sentence contrasting sectors with “While.” Meaning is usually recoverable, but control is uneven. “While, figure of jobs in agriculture sector decreased” is not a complete, well-formed clause, and “In 1980, the manufacturing rose job figures upto 5 millions” has problems with articles, word order, and number agreement. The sentence beginning “It is quite evident from line graph” also omits an article. Capitalisation after “Meanwhile” is inconsistent, and punctuation around the opening contrast needs attention. Practise complete comparative sentences with accurate articles and plural forms, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
