Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main broad patterns: manufacturing rises to a peak before declining, retail and healthcare increase, and agriculture falls. The manufacturing figures and agriculture’s stages are reported accurately, and the response includes comparisons across the period. However, the overview is imprecise: saying manufacturing and agriculture both show a decreasing trend overlooks manufacturing’s initial rise. There is also a significant data error in the final comparison: healthcare reaches about 16 million jobs in 2020, not 14, and retail also ends at about 16 million. The claim that healthcare created 14 jobs is therefore misleading. To strengthen the report, give a clearer overview of the leading sectors and their convergence at the end, and check that each figure and comparison matches the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and a final paragraph containing details. It also groups the sectors in a generally sensible way, and phrases such as “while” and “after 2000” help show contrast and sequence. However, progression is not consistently clear: the final paragraph moves from manufacturing to retail and healthcare, then agriculture, with several comparisons packed into one long sentence. The overview’s broad grouping also conflicts with the later account of manufacturing’s rise before its fall. Use separate, focused detail paragraphs or shorter sentences, and make the overview accurately preview the trends. Check punctuation and spacing around sentence boundaries so the reader can follow the comparisons more easily.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “increasing trend,” “decreases,” “slight decrease,” and “remained constant,” so the main movements are usually understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. “Chance of jobs” and “job vacancy” do not naturally describe the number of jobs shown; “number of jobs” or “employment” would be more suitable. “14 job opportunity were created” is also an awkward and inaccurate way to report a figure. Spelling errors such as “manufactoring,” “heathcare,” “recpectivey,” and “constat” are noticeable. Build a more precise set of trend verbs and use standard sector names consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and a time clause beginning “after 2000.” However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “In retail and healthcare sectors shows increasing trend” lacks a clear grammatical subject and has agreement and article problems. “The graph provide number of job” also has subject–verb and singular/plural errors. The long sentence beginning “In the manufactoring sector” contains several clauses joined without reliable punctuation, while “i decrese” does not maintain appropriate sentence capitalization or verb form. Practise building complete sentences around a clear subject and verb, then separate related data points with full stops or semicolons.
