Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify all four sectors and report several broad trends, including manufacturing peaking in 1980 before declining and healthcare rising over time. However, the account is only partially accurate and the main overview is unclear, which limits how fully it addresses the graph. For example, agriculture falls from about 6 million jobs to 3 million by 1980 and then to 2 million in 2020; it does not remain unchanged throughout 1980–2020. Healthcare reaches about 16 million, not 15 million, and retail begins at about 6 million rather than 5 million. The final claim that healthcare and retail are “stable” and that other sectors faced “crises” is not supported by the data. Give a concise overview of the major contrasts and check figures against the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response follows a generally understandable sequence: it introduces the graph, discusses the sectors, and ends with a concluding comment. Connectors such as “Then,” “In addition,” and “lastly” help signal movement between points. However, most information is packed into one long paragraph, and the repeated sector-by-sector pattern does not create a clear overview followed by well-organised details. Some links are also unclear: “as time pass it remain same” does not specify the period accurately, while the final sentence introduces a new judgement rather than summarising the trends. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and supporting details, and group related trends—for example, rising sectors together and declining sectors together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to identify the sectors and describe basic movement, including “manufacturing,” “agriculture,” “decline,” and “jobs.” Nevertheless, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a graph. “Variety of jobs in various institute of economy” is unclear, and “they create more jobs every year” suggests a continuous annual pattern that the chart does not show. “Growing prospective” and “faced crises” are also unsuitable or unsupported descriptions. Aim for precise trend language and natural collocations, such as “employment in healthcare rose” or “the number of jobs fell.” Check sector names and use “retail” consistently rather than switching to “retailing.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences linked with “but,” “then,” and “while,” so the response shows some variety. However, control is inconsistent, and errors recur in basic sentence patterns. For example, “This graph illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “as time pass it remain same” contains incorrect verb forms and unclear tense control. The sentence beginning “This graph shows different features which includes” also has agreement problems, and several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise accurate present-tense descriptions of chart data, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries; then combine clauses only when their grammar remains controlled.
