Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You report all four sectors and identify several key movements, including manufacturing peaking at 20 in 1980 and agriculture declining to 2 by 2020. However, the response only partly fulfils the task because it repeatedly describes the figures as a “ratio” or percentages, although the graph measures jobs in millions. Some details are also inaccurate: healthcare is about 11 million in 2000, not 12, and reaches about 16 million in 2020, not 15. The overview that healthcare was “one of the most” prominent sectors is unclear and misses the important comparison that retail and healthcare finish level at around 16 million, while manufacturing declines. A clearer, accurate overview and more precise comparisons would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate descriptions of the four sectors, and a concluding overview. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow, and time markers such as “In 1960” and “in 2020” help establish chronology. However, the sector-by-sector format becomes repetitive, with “after sometime” and “after some time” used repeatedly, and the final overview does not clearly synthesise the main comparisons. Some references are also unclear, particularly “he” when referring to a sector or number. Grouping the trends—for example, rising sectors together and declining sectors together—and using more varied, precise links would create smoother progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “manufacturing,” “agriculture,” “healthcare,” “increase,” and “decreased,” so the reader can generally identify the trends being described. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Calling the figures a “ratio” and adding “%” misrepresents the unit; the chart shows numbers of jobs in millions. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “illusrate,” “econmy,” “Ratail,” and “deacrese,” alongside awkward phrases such as “rise up into.” Use accurate chart language and practise spelling and collocations to make the report more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most of the response uses simple sentence patterns, and the reader can usually understand the intended sequence of changes. However, control of verb forms and sentence construction is inconsistent. For example, “In 1960 the ratio of manufacturing is about 15%” shifts awkwardly between past data and present tense, while “he was rise up” and “he was decreased” use incorrect verb forms. Agreement and reference are also problematic in “the healthcare is one of the most job ratio.” These errors recur and sometimes make the relationships between the figures difficult to follow. Practise past-tense reporting with forms such as “stood at,” “rose,” and “fell,” and build complete sentences with clear subjects and accurate agreement.
