Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall pattern: manufacturing is highest initially, while healthcare rises and retail grows to match it by 2020; agriculture declines. The response also includes figures for all four sectors, so the key features are covered. However, several details are inaccurate: healthcare starts at 2 million, not 3, and agriculture is about 3 million in both 1980 and 2000 and 2 million in 2020, rather than 4, 4 and 3. The overview focuses on the starting-year ranking but would be stronger if it highlighted the major changes over the whole period, especially healthcare and retail reaching 16 million and manufacturing falling after 1980. Some comparisons and trends are therefore less fully reported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs grouping manufacturing with healthcare and retail with agriculture. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “However” help signal relationships, although some are used mechanically or do not express the relationship precisely; “Regrading highest and lowest” is also an unclear transition. The overview and later paragraphs repeat the initial ranking, while the sequence of figures is sometimes compressed into awkward phrases such as “closely followed by 20, 17 in remaining year.” Use clearer topic sentences and connect each figure explicitly to its year. More precise referencing would also help readers distinguish the sectors and their trends.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a line graph, including “upward trend,” “followed,” “equal number,” and “in contrast,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “the data of total number of jobs,” “host equal number,” “huge amount of job,” and “faced loss in number of job.” There are also spelling errors, including “Futhermore,” “Regrading,” and “agricultre,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for standard chart language and consistent forms: for example, describe a sector as “employing” a number of people or say that employment “rose” or “declined.” Avoid repeating “number of job” when “employment” or “jobs” is more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which” and “while,” and the main trends can usually be understood. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, plurals, and sentence construction. For example, “in United state” needs an article and the plural form, while “the smallest number of job” and “16 millions job” show problems with number and noun forms. The sentence beginning “manufacturing sector consist” also has subject–verb agreement and tense issues, and “closely followed by 20, 17” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Check that each sentence has a complete clause, use past tense consistently for the historical data, and review singular/plural agreement and punctuation.
