Student answer (Band 5.0)

The graph shows the improtant ecnomic structure of the United States between 60 years comprises on jobs in the four major sectors including manufacturing, retail, agriculture and healthcare. All these sectors are highly important for the production of jobs in any country which plays an important role in the development of nation.

According to the graph, mostly of the jobs producer is manufacturing section which is always high as compared to the other three sectors or jobs producers in the graph in every year but there is a sudden decrease in the production of jobs in this market. However, the gap is covered by the retail sector for jobs production as with the decrease in manufacturing the retail market boost the jobs production, it is not always as same as it looks like in 2020. The jobs in this sector were very minimum as compared to manufacturing in 1960's.

The other two sectors which produces jobs are agriculture and healthcare. Agricultre is producing more jobs rather then the healthcare in the start of this graph which is 1960's but between the gap of twenty years, the agriculture sector is very rapidly decreased its jobs capacity but the healthcare is producing maximum number of jobs which will beat the other sectors of job production in United States and in the 2020's the healthcare sector is competing the retail market and also leave behind the manufacturing sector.

The data in this chart shows the millions of jobs production in in four major sectors of US. All these sectors are producing different categories of jobs in different number by the need of time and development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify all four sectors and describe several broad trends, including manufacturing’s decline after 1980, retail’s growth, and agriculture’s fall. However, the account is only partially accurate and does not give enough precise comparisons to establish the main features clearly. Manufacturing was the largest sector in 1960, 1980 and 2000, but by 2020 retail and healthcare were joint highest at about 16 million; the response instead says manufacturing was always highest and that healthcare was producing the maximum in the period before 2020. The overview is also weakened by general statements about national development and job needs, which are not shown by the graph. Focus on the data, give an accurate overview, and support it with key figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, discussion of manufacturing and retail, discussion of agriculture and healthcare, and a concluding statement. This gives the reader some organisation, and linking words such as “However” and “According to the graph” show attempts to connect ideas. Nevertheless, the overall progression is not consistently clear. Several sentences combine multiple trends and comparisons, making the relationships difficult to follow, while “the gap is covered” and “it is not always as same as it looks like” have unclear references. The final paragraph repeats the introduction rather than summarising the key trends. Use a concise overview followed by logically grouped comparisons, and make each pronoun or comparison refer clearly to a sector or year.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “manufacturing,” “retail sector,” “agriculture,” “healthcare,” and “jobs capacity,” so the topic is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several repeated or inaccurate expressions make the report less clear. Phrases such as “jobs producer,” “production of jobs,” and “the retail market boost the jobs production” are unnatural collocations; “jobs” or “employment” would be more direct. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “improtant,” “ecnomic,” and “Agricultre,” and imprecise wording such as “maximum number of jobs” where a specific comparison is needed. Build a more accurate set of trend verbs and comparison phrases, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses with “which,” “but,” and “as,” showing an effort to vary sentence structure. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to understand. For example, “All these sectors … which plays” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “Agriculture is producing more jobs rather then the healthcare” has an incomplete comparison and incorrect sentence structure. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent in “the retail market boost” and “the agriculture sector is very rapidly decreased its jobs capacity.” Several sentences run on and would benefit from clearer punctuation. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them using controlled subordinate clauses and consistent past-tense reporting.
