Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant trends: healthcare rises throughout, agriculture declines, retail grows, and manufacturing peaks before falling. However, the overview is unclear and does not accurately summarise the main comparisons: “the highest to lowest numbers” does not specify which sectors lead, and the chart shows retail and healthcare both reaching about 16 million jobs by 2020, while agriculture is lowest. Some details are inaccurate or confusing: agriculture starts at about 6 million, not five, and the statement that retail “starts” at the same stage as agriculture is not a clear comparison. To strengthen the report, give a precise overview of the leading and declining sectors, then support it with selected figures and clear comparisons across the period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to descriptions of the trends, and it attempts to connect ideas with “Further,” “moreover,” and “before.” However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview is vague and the body paragraphs combine sectors without a clear organising principle. For example, “Acually at the same stage where the agriculture economy sectors take starts retail job sectors starts that point” is hard to interpret, so the relationship between the two trends is not established. Some linking expressions are also used mechanically or inaccurately. Organise the body by grouping rising sectors together and declining sectors together, and use clear comparisons and references to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “line chart,” “job sectors,” “increased,” “stable,” and “downfall,” so the reader can recognise the general subject and trends. However, the range is limited, and repeated or imprecise phrases such as “job sectors” and “jobs sectors” make the report sound unnatural. There are also frequent spelling and word-form errors, including “aconomy,” “gharphics,” “clearly” misspelled as “clearly” in context, “oppertunities,” and “decares.” Some choices obscure meaning, particularly “the combination of trendes” and “take starts.” Use standard chart-reporting language such as “employment,” “rose steadily,” “declined,” and “remained stable,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses introduced by “where” and “before,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in phrases such as “the information … compare,” “healthcare … increaces,” and “this sectors illustrates.” Articles, prepositions, and sentence construction are also problematic: “in the american between 1960 to 2020” and “after the five millions of jobs redues in 1980” are difficult to process. Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, including the lower-case opening “overall” and missing spaces after commas. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build shorter, complete sentences before adding subordinate clauses.
