Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the four sectors and include some relevant figures, such as manufacturing at 15 million in 1960 and 20 million in 1980, and retail at 15 million in 2000. However, the summary only partly captures the main trends and contains important inaccuracies: healthcare began at about 2 million, not zero, and reached about 16 million by 2020, rather than 15 million. The overview also says manufacturing peaked at 20 million but does not clearly summarise its later decline or the strong growth in healthcare and retail. Agriculture’s overall fall is mentioned only briefly. To make the report more complete, give a clear overview of the contrasting trends and compare the sectors at the beginning and end of the period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview, and a paragraph describing selected years. Sequencing with “Firstly” and references to 1960, 1980, 2000, and 2020 help the reader follow the timeline. However, progression is uneven: the overview repeats that the chart covers four sectors, while the later paragraph moves between sectors without consistently comparing them. Some links are unclear, as in “In 2000 retail and healthcare get progress above then 5 millions,” and “In2020” is not separated from the year. Organise the details into clearer comparisons—for example, rising sectors together and declining sectors together—and use linking phrases to show contrast and change rather than relying mainly on year-by-year listing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “peak,” “gradually,” “reached,” and “down,” and the reader can generally identify the sectors and figures being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. “Four jobs … are illubaret” does not communicate a clear description, while “Retail get progress” and “jobs were in trend” are not natural ways to describe changes in a graph. Spelling errors such as “specipic” and “millions” used with singular figures also reduce precision. Choose standard trend language and use it consistently, such as “increased,” “declined,” “remained stable,” and “stood at,” checking spelling and whether a figure is singular or plural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can understand several basic statements, such as “In 1980 it was at his peak.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “Retail get progress,” “Healthcare is started,” and “other jobs were less liked by the people,” where the intended relationships are difficult to follow. The sentence beginning “Firstly, Manufacturing which is started…” is also incomplete or awkwardly joined. Practise forming clear past-tense sentences to report historical data, with a subject and main verb in each clause. For example: “Manufacturing employment rose to 20 million in 1980, then fell to 13 million by 2020.”
