Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant trends: manufacturing is initially the largest sector, retail and healthcare rise, and agriculture declines. However, the account is only partly developed and includes unsupported commentary about future relevance and the importance of healthcare and agriculture, which does not summarise the graph. Some descriptions are also inaccurate or unclear: manufacturing falls after 1980 rather than after “fourty years,” and retail continues to rise through 2020 rather than slowing down. Include a concise overview of the main changes and compare the endpoints—for example, healthcare and retail both reach about 16 million jobs by 2020, while agriculture is lowest. Keep the focus on what the data show rather than predictions or opinions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response moves through the sectors in a generally understandable order, and contrast markers such as “Comparatively” and “Although” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, there is no clear paragraph structure or distinct overview, so the reader has to infer the main message from a continuous sequence of statements. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “Although the Agriculture sector drops…” followed by “There seem no apparently clear increase for many decades.” The final discussion shifts from describing trends to arguing that sectors should be uplifted, interrupting the report’s progression. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and one or two paragraphs comparing the data, using linking words only where the relationship is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of vocabulary for describing trends, including “gradually,” “uniformly growing,” and “drops significantly.” However, word choice and spelling errors are frequent enough to make some phrases difficult to interpret, such as “the information of four diiferent sector,” “the graph insights,” and “growth remains stcuk.” Several expressions are also imprecise for a data report: “jobs ratio” does not describe the number of jobs, and “smoothly” is less suitable than a direct description of a steady rise. Use accurate terms such as “number of jobs,” “increased steadily,” and “declined,” and check spelling and collocations carefully. Avoid evaluative phrases such as “life line” when the task calls for neutral reporting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a sentence using “while.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms sometimes make the meaning unclear. For example, “the healthcare sectors are uniformly growing” has an agreement problem, while “There seem no apparently clear increase” is not grammatically complete. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise forming accurate subject–verb patterns and complete sentences before adding complex clauses. For instance, write “Healthcare employment grew steadily throughout the period” and “Agricultural employment fell between 1960 and 1980, then declined slightly.”
