Number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the US, 1960-2020
Student answer (Band 6.0)
iam summaraising the graph which shows the number of job sectors of economy in us between 1960 to 2020.
The graph overall articulates decrease and increase in four job sectors which are manufacturing, retail, agriculture, healthcare.
The healthcare was the lowest among all in 1960 but in 2020 it increased rapidly from 2 to 15 and another job sector has increased like this much but not like healthcare which is Retail it has incresed from 6 to 15 on the contrary agriculture had a very low amount of job opportunities likely to be 6 but in 2020 it came to an end 0. Manufacturing had the highest number of job opportunities which was 15 it increased highly in 1980 to 20 which was also the highest but suddenly it started deacreasing and at the very end on 2020 the scale was down to 13.
Overall healthcare and retail incresed in demand from 1960 to 2020 on the other hand agriculture got to and end in job demand.Manufacturing got a decrease in demand but still its the 3rd most demanding among all the job opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main overall movements: healthcare and retail rise, agriculture declines, and manufacturing peaks in 1980 before falling. You also include useful comparisons, such as manufacturing being highest initially and healthcare starting lowest. This covers the key features, and the account is generally grounded in the graph. However, some details are inaccurate: agriculture falls to about 2 million, not zero, in 2020; healthcare reaches about 16 million, rather than 15; and retail ends at about 16 million. The claim that manufacturing is the third most demanding sector in 2020 is also incorrect: it is below both retail and healthcare, so it is tied with neither and ranks third only if agriculture is counted as fourth. More precise reporting and a clearer overview of the final rankings would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to descriptions of the sectors and then a concluding overview. Linking expressions such as “on the contrary,” “but,” and “on the other hand” help show contrasts. However, the central description is a long paragraph containing several trends, which makes comparisons difficult to follow. Some connections are also unclear: “another job sector has increased like this much” does not clearly identify the comparison, and the final statement about manufacturing being third conflicts with the preceding account. Grouping rising sectors together and declining sectors together, with clearer sentence boundaries and references, would make the progression more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of trend vocabulary, including “increased,” “decreasing,” “highest,” and “lowest,” and phrases such as “job opportunities” show an attempt to describe the data in different ways. However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural for a graph report. “The graph overall articulates” is not an appropriate collocation, while “came to an end 0” and “increased in demand” do not accurately describe the figures shown. Spelling errors such as “summaraising,” “incresed,” and “deacreasing” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for precise terms such as “rose,” “fell,” “stood at,” and “employment,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including contrasts with “but,” “on the contrary,” and “on the other hand.” The main trends can usually be understood, but grammatical errors recur and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “The healthcare was the lowest among all in 1960” has an unnecessary article and an unclear comparison, while “it increased rapidly from 2 to 15” needs a clearer subject and a unit. Tense and sentence construction are also inconsistent in phrases such as “it started deacreasing and at the very end on 2020 the scale was down to 13.” Use past-tense verbs consistently, add articles and prepositions where needed, and divide long sentences into clearer units.
