Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant trends, including healthcare’s rise, agriculture’s decline and manufacturing’s later fall. However, the response only partially summarises the graph: it gives no clear overview of the main changes across all four sectors, and some figures or periods are inaccurate. For example, healthcare reaches about 16 million in 2020, not 15 million in 2000; retail rises to about 16 million by 2020 rather than becoming stable; and manufacturing falls from about 17 million in 2000 to 13 million in 2020, not to 10 million. The opening also says the period ends in 2000, although the graph continues to 2020. Select the key overall patterns and report the dates and values accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some attempt to organise the response by sector, and phrases such as “In addition” and “To sum up” signal transitions. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the discussion moves between trends without a clear overview or consistent sequence. Several sentences are fragments or loosely connected, such as “Their source of income turn into strong according to the data” and “No of workers cross upto 10 millions in this field.” Linking words are sometimes used inaccurately, and references such as “their” do not clearly identify a sector. Use a brief overview followed by logically grouped comparisons, and connect each sentence directly to the relevant sector and time period.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “rose steadily,” “declined,” “stable” and “increased gradually,” which is relevant to describing a line graph. However, the range is limited by frequent spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word choices that sometimes obscure meaning. Examples include “employments,” “vacencies,” “retain,” “disapoointed” and “flactuation”; phrases such as “source of income turn into strong” and “their research contend” are also unsuitable for reporting chart data. Use precise terms such as “number of jobs,” “employment,” “reached,” “remained stable” and “fell slightly.” Check spelling carefully and avoid adding claims about income or research that the graph does not show.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including contrasts introduced by “Yet” and “Furthermore,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction frequently make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “The workforce size … rose steadily” is followed by the incomplete “Yet sharply increases,” while “Their vacencies for workers to much low” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Tense also shifts, as in “increased” and “turn into,” despite describing past data. Punctuation and spacing around sentence boundaries are inconsistent. Practise complete subject–verb sentences in the past tense, and use a small number of accurate comparison structures before attempting more complex ones.
