Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify all four sectors and make a relevant attempt to describe their broad directions: manufacturing changes over time, retail and healthcare rise, and agriculture declines. However, the overview is not consistently accurate: manufacturing is described as the highest and agriculture as the lowest without clarifying that this applies mainly at the start, while retail and healthcare are joint-highest by 2020. Several key figures and comparisons are missing or imprecise. For example, manufacturing rises from 15 million to a peak of 20 million in 1980 before falling to 13 million, but this pattern is not reported clearly. Agriculture starts at 6 million, not 5, and remains at about 3 million from 1980 to 2000. Select the main turning points and support the overview with accurate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to descriptions and a concluding paragraph, and the reader can identify the sectors being discussed. However, progression is limited: the second paragraph gives general statements rather than organising the data into clear comparisons, and the final paragraph repeats earlier points instead of adding a useful summary. Some linking expressions are inaccurate or mechanical, such as “However” before the manufacturing trend and “In the other hand.” References such as “both sector” and “it” are also unclear. Group the information by trend—for example, manufacturing and agriculture versus the two growing sectors—and use straightforward links such as “By contrast” and “Meanwhile” to make relationships clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “manufacturing,” “agriculture,” “increased,” and “decreased,” so the subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “different works in four different aspect,” “the discussion between this graph,” and “a subsiding jobs.” “Unstable line” is also not a precise way to describe a rise followed by a decline. Aim for accurate chart language and avoid adding vague phrases such as “massively” or “wide difference.” More precise verbs and nouns will help you report trends and comparisons clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast introduced by “However” and a reason clause beginning “because.” Nevertheless, errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns and in the longer attempts, sometimes obscuring the intended meaning. For example, “The illustration shown information” has an incorrect verb form, while “The manufacturing significantly have unstable line” has problems with article use, agreement, and sentence structure. In “both retail and healthcare are massively increased,” the verb form is incorrect; “both sectors have reached to more than 15” also has agreement and verb-pattern errors. Practise forming accurate subject–verb sentences in the past tense, and check articles, plurals, and prepositions. Shorter, controlled sentences would improve clarity before you add complexity.
