Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the four sectors and attempt to describe their relative levels, noting that agriculture is the smallest and that manufacturing is high. However, the response gives only a few incomplete observations and does not summarise the graph’s main changes across 1960–2020. For example, manufacturing rises to a peak in 1980 before declining, while retail and healthcare both grow substantially; these key trends are not reported accurately or fully. The statement that retail and healthcare are “similar in range” is only true at the end, not across the period. The final sentence also breaks off before describing healthcare. The response is 77 words, below the required 150. Include a clear overview and support it with accurate comparisons and selected figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to order the response, using “First of all,” “at last,” and “on the other hand.” These markers show an effort to connect observations, but the ideas do not develop in a clear sequence: the response moves from manufacturing to a general comparison, then agriculture, and ends with an unfinished reference to healthcare. The opening sentence introduces the chart, but there is no distinct overview or organised comparison of the trends. Some linking phrases are also used in ways that do not clearly express the relationship between ideas. To improve, group the information into an overview followed by comparisons of the sectors, and complete each sentence so the reader can follow the progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses a small set of relevant topic words, including “manufacturing,” “retail,” “agriculture,” “healthcare,” and “jobs,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “higher no.of job,” “similar in range,” and “very less amount of job.” There are also spelling errors in “multipal,” “feild,” and “staring,” which reduce accuracy. The limited range makes it difficult to describe changes and comparisons precisely. Build a set of graph vocabulary such as “increased,” “declined,” “peaked,” and “remained stable,” and use accurate phrases such as “the number of jobs” and “the lowest employment level.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and a longer sentence beginning “In the staring of agriculture jobs level…,” showing some effort to connect clauses. However, control is inconsistent, and several sentences contain errors that make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “The given graph represent” has subject–verb disagreement, while “retail and healthcare both in similar in range” lacks a complete grammatical structure. The final sentence is unfinished, and the use of clauses joined by “and” or “on the other hand” does not produce a complete, clear sentence. Practise forming complete subject–verb sentences, checking agreement and verb forms, and using full stops to separate distinct comparisons.
