Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main sectors and report several relevant trends, including manufacturing peaking at 20 million before declining, retail and healthcare rising, and agriculture falling. You also note that retail and healthcare finish at the same level. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: manufacturing did not decrease throughout the period, and the two rising sectors did not both increase constantly, since retail’s growth slowed near the end. Some figures are misreported: agriculture ends at about 2 million, not 0.5 million, and manufacturing falls to about 13 million by 2020. To strengthen the response, give a concise, accurate overview of the contrasting trends and check the key endpoint figures against the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about the rising sectors and then the other two sectors. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is not always clear, and several linking words are used inaccurately or mechanically. For example, “While” begins an incomplete contrast in the overview, and “Although” does not connect the manufacturing figures clearly. The repeated use of “at the end” and “However” also makes the links feel repetitive. Organise the details into clearer comparisons—for example, group the two rising sectors together, then describe manufacturing and agriculture—and use connectors only where the relationship between ideas is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing trends, such as “increased,” “decreased,” “reach,” and “same numbers,” so the general subject is understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. Phrases such as “increased up,” “rise up,” “a pear of 16millions,” and “decreased up to 0.5 millions” are not natural ways to describe the graph. There are also spelling and form errors, including “grap,” “highely,” and “Futhermore.” Build a more precise set of trend expressions and use standard forms such as “rose to,” “peaked at,” and “fell to”; check spelling and number formatting carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including contrasts introduced with “Although” and “However,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur in phrases such as “the healthcare was also grow up” and “they both was on same numbers.” Sentence construction is also faulty in “the manufacturing was to go up from 15 to 20 millions on 20 years,” while missing or misplaced punctuation and capitalisation make some sentences harder to read. These recurring problems can obscure the intended comparisons. Practise forming clear past-tense statements, for example, “Manufacturing rose from 15 million to 20 million over the next 20 years,” and check subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries.
