Student answer (Band 5.0)

The best way to provide housing for the public in societies, colonies and different areas in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks in large cities and societies. In my opinion, tall apartment blocks are a more beneficial and convenient method to manage the population in large cities and provide a luxurious life to everyone in our community.

On the one hand, we don't build homes in large cities because overpopulation has already filled every available space. Single-family homes give more space to a single family. Societies are already filled with homes. We don't have enough space to add more people in colonies, towns, and societies. there are major drawbacks to providing homes in large cities. This Activity will affect our environment because we can destroy forest areas and greenery.

On the other hand, the tall apartment blocks are more beneficial, engaging method to manage over population in large cities. the tall appartment blocks manage over crowded populated areas and we can manage families in less space areas. we can manage almost thousand of familes in the tall apparment blocks with covering the small area as compared with single family homes in large cities. we can provide every basic facilites, parks, gym and other ammenties under the same roof.

In conclusion, we can't provide enough homes in large cities becuase every space has been filled with population while tall appartment blocks are more benefical method to manage over population in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear preference for tall apartment blocks and include relevant points about limited urban space, environmental damage from expanding outward, and shared facilities. However, the response addresses the question only partially: the claim that blocks are “more beneficial” is repeated, but the reasons are not sufficiently explained or supported with a specific example. The opposing point about single-family homes is also brief and does not develop a balanced comparison. The conclusion restates the main idea rather than drawing together the argument. The response contains 234 words, below the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop each main reason with explanation or an example, and make your degree of agreement explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps readers identify the broad contrast between limited space and apartment blocks. However, progression within paragraphs is weak: several sentences repeat that cities are full or that blocks manage population, without adding a new step to the argument. The link between the environmental concern and the case for tall buildings could be made more explicit. Some transitions feel mechanical, and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction. Organise each body paragraph around one clear claim, then explain its consequence and give an example; use referencing and linking phrases to show how ideas connect rather than relying mainly on repeated wording.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “overpopulation,” “single-family homes,” “environment,” and “basic facilities,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, especially “large cities,” “manage,” and “tall apartment blocks.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “luxurious life to everyone,” “engaging method,” and “covering the small area.” Spelling errors, including “appartment,” “familes,” “facilites,” and “becuase,” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise housing and planning vocabulary, and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general terms with accurate alternatives will make the argument clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including “because overpopulation has already filled every available space” and a comparison between apartment blocks and single-family homes. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect fluency. Examples include sentence fragments or faulty sentence boundaries in “there are major drawbacks…” and “the tall appartment blocks manage…,” as well as inconsistent capitalisation at the start of sentences (“there,” “the,” and “This Activity”). There are also problems with articles, plurals, and agreement, as in “almost thousand of familes” and “every basic facilites.” Practise building accurate complex sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and proofread sentence boundaries, articles, and singular/plural forms.
