Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that the best way to provide homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. I strongly agree with this view because as the cities are growing and there is lesser area to build a bunglow for everyone, tall rise buildings can help to accommodate people.

There are many advantages of building a tall rise building but the main benifit is safety because nowadays there are watchmens in every apartment and also a close neighborhood, for instance, if kids are alone in a apartment their are neighbour who take care of the kids.Building upwards preserves valuable land for parks, schools and public infrastructure, for potential development.

The other reason for building apartment is that relationships are build well because the neighborhood is closely formed that makes people to great each other on a daily basis and as relationship build their are chances of events happening in the society for instance festivals are celebrated together namely diwali, holi and eid etc.

as apartments are cheaper and affordable for financialy weak individuals and because of this everyone gets a home to live in.High rise buildings also provide great view of the cities which helps to lower the stress by looking at the aerial view from the sky.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that building apartments have more advantages than living in a bunglow as there is safety, good relationship with neighbours and also events happening often in the society, because of this people live a less stressful life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes, and you give relevant reasons, including making efficient use of land, safety, affordability and community life. The point about preserving land for parks and schools is particularly relevant, but it is not explained in detail; the claims about safety, relationships and reduced stress also need clearer support or examples. The response therefore addresses the task only partially, with ideas that remain limited or under-developed. It is also 9 words below the 250-word minimum; the 10 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop two or three main reasons more fully and explain how they make high-rise housing an effective solution to the shortage of homes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main ideas are generally relevant to the position. However, progression within the body paragraphs is not always clear: the second body paragraph moves from community relationships to affordability and then to city views without showing how these points connect. Linking phrases such as “The other reason” and “In conclusion” provide basic signposting, but connections are sometimes mechanical, and the long sentence beginning “as apartments are cheaper” is difficult to follow. Capitalisation at the start of “as apartments” also disrupts the paragraph flow. Group related reasons together, use clearer transitions between them, and make each paragraph develop one central point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “valuable land,” “public infrastructure,” “neighborhood” and “aerial view.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as naming Diwali, Holi and Eid as examples of community events. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “bunglow,” “benifit,” “watchmens” and “financialy” are misspelled, while “tall rise buildings” and “relationships are build well” are unnatural expressions. Repetition of “building,” “people” and “society” also limits variety. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for housing and urban development so your ideas sound more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to read. For example, “because as the cities are growing” combines clauses awkwardly, while “their are neighbour who take care of the kids” has problems with agreement and sentence structure. In “as relationship build their are chances,” the verb form and clause construction are unclear. Missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent capitalisation also affect punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly connected supporting clause, and check articles, subject–verb agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries before submitting.
