Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a gradual increase in urban civilization. The biggest problem in metropolitan cities is shortage of homes. Building tall apartments is the only solution to provide enough homes to everyone. I strongly agree with this opinion.
To begin with, people from rural areas come to big cities in search of better living opportunities and for employment. Every person has some basic living requirements like living space, fresh air and water. The biggest problem that many people face is shortage of homes as the population increases but accommodation remains the same. If there is no solution, permanent residents will also suffer from this issue. To overcome this problem, many people started building multi story apartments which provide almost all basic needs for instance clean and airy rooms, fresh air from balcony, proper water supply and maintenance assistance. They also provide security to the residents of the building.
Moreover, as there is no space to build separate houses for everyone. Multi stories apartments solve this problem, because we can use the same available space in a better way. This also brings equality as everyone has same structure of each apartment. And everyone can use the facilities regardless of discrimination. Tall buildings also costs low to the buyers and everyone can afford to buy or to rent it, especially immigrants of rural areas who come for the sake of job or education. For instance, in the busiest city like Lahore where people come from other cities for health issues and for other things. They need some place to stay there and these apartments fulfills their need.
In conclusion, tall apartment block is a necessary solution to overcome accommodation issues and to provide better living space to everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that tall apartments can address housing shortages, and the conclusion returns to this view. You give relevant reasons, including using limited land efficiently, providing shared facilities and security, and accommodating people who move to Lahore. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that apartments bring equality because they have the same structure needs a clearer link to how this improves housing provision. The Lahore example is relevant, but it would be stronger with a specific explanation of how apartment blocks meet visitors’ needs. Develop these points and acknowledge a limitation or alternative to make the argument more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs with separate supporting points, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with” and “Moreover” help signal the progression, and the main position remains easy to follow. Some connections between ideas are less clear or feel mechanical. For instance, the move from shared apartment facilities to security is abrupt, while “This also brings equality” does not clearly explain how the previous point leads to equality. The second body paragraph also combines land use, equality, affordability and the Lahore example, so its focus becomes broad. Group related ideas more tightly and use explicit explanations or referencing to show how each example supports the central argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of housing and urban-life vocabulary, including “metropolitan cities,” “accommodation,” “multi story apartments,” “available space” and “residents.” These choices make the topic clear, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “urban civilization,” “living opportunities,” and “Tall buildings also costs low to the buyers.” There is also repetition of “problem,” “people” and “apartments,” which limits flexibility. Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms; for example, describe urban population growth and say that high-rise housing can reduce the cost per household. Check compound forms such as “multi-storey” and choose wording that accurately expresses your intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more developed sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If there is no solution, permanent residents will also suffer” and a reason clause beginning “because.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “Tall buildings also costs low” has subject–verb disagreement and an incorrect construction; “these apartments fulfills their need” also needs plural agreement. The opening “There is a gradual increase in urban civilization” is grammatically possible but unclear in meaning. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction, as in “as there is no space to build separate houses for everyone.” Review agreement, articles and how clauses are joined, while continuing to use a mix of sentence patterns.
