Student answer (Band 5.5)

Most of the people think that, builiding tall apparment block would be the best way to provide enough homes to them. Despite, any conclusion is made let's dicuss different aspects.

Generally, people prefer to live in large cities. But the increasing rate of population has created many difficulties for them to built their own houses. As, living in large cities has become necessary for them to attain sutainability and can progress. Building large appartments has almost deminished the problem for buying own land and make their own home. This has made convenience for people who cannot afford their own houses. One of the major benefit is that tall buildings having small flats provide the security. For instance there is no fear of robbery as these buildings have high security. Government has taken these steps to provide enough homes for people.

On the other hand, we cannot neglect its drawbacks. As tall buildings are not reliable and are much costly. For example, If natural disaster occurs then the most affected object could be the high buildings. Providing home is not the purpose but, to give them safe place to live is what matters the most. There are many other ways to provide homes for the communities such as they can cut colonies in 5 marla or 10 marla plots. This can also allow some room to provide enough homes.

To sum up all, I agree with this statement that it could be the way to provide maximum houses in large cities, but to some extent this is not the best way to accomodate people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the question by considering both the benefits and drawbacks of tall apartment blocks, and your conclusion gives a qualified position: you agree that they can provide many homes, but not that they are always the best solution. The points about affordability, security and risks from natural disasters are relevant. However, the position is not fully clear at the start, where “let’s discuss different aspects” does not indicate your view, and several ideas need fuller explanation. For example, the claim that apartments have “almost diminished the problem” of buying land is not clearly linked to how they increase housing supply. Explain why high-rise construction is effective in dense cities, and support the alternative of plots with a specific comparison or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking expressions can feel mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, “Despite, any conclusion is made” does not clearly connect the opening to the discussion, while “As” begins sentences that are not properly connected to the preceding idea. The shift from affordability to security also needs a clearer explanation of how these points support the same argument. Use topic sentences to state each paragraph’s main point, then develop it in a logical order with clear references and more precise transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “population,” “natural disaster,” “security” and “communities,” and you attempt more specific expressions such as “tall buildings” and “plots.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the response less clear, including “builiding,” “apparment,” “sutainability” and “deminished.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “cut colonies in 5 marla or 10 marla plots” and “provide enough homes to them.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and vary repeated general words such as “homes” and “buildings.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise terms for housing development would make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “If natural disaster occurs” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement and punctuation are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “people … to built their own houses” uses an incorrect verb form, and “One of the major benefit is that tall buildings having small flats provide the security” has problems with agreement and clause structure. Several sentence openings with “As” are incomplete or awkwardly attached. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and finite verb, and check articles, plurals and punctuation when editing.
