Student answer (Band 5.5)
The tall apartments plays an important role in large cities. No doubt the flats are the best options in the high buildings in big cities. I stongly agree with this great idea, it is quite productive and I am in support of this idea.
First of all in my opinion it is best to make the building in such a way that little amount of land is ocuupied. By this i mean to say that if we build the structures of building in big cities in the vertical direction then alot of population issues can be solved. For example, I used to live in Karachi for 5 years for my education. It is biggest city of Pakistan and is over populated. As i passed my time in this city i came to know the importance of flats which were high like there every building was consist of multiple floors. If all appartments or homes will be directly on the ground then there will be no space for new homes. Therefore it is neccesary to make structures in verticle positions.
Secondly if the buildings are in horizontal axis then there will be no place for the parks and pools as well as for farming purpose because no more land will be available for them. Simply i mean to say that the land will be occupied by the houses. For instance, in my relatives i noticed that one of my uncle used to live in a small house it was only of 2 rooms, as his younger son got married he constructed his home upwords, then his next son got married he again make one more floor over the first one. For all these reasons i think that in such a way one can make as many as required apartments for the family.
However some people still think that homes should b on ground level and should have lawn in it , mostly it is the thinking of rich people because they can affort the land cost as well as the amount required for the foundations. Despite of all these reasons i still support my opinion because it is cost effective one should not have to invest alot of money for base of the building as it is very expensive thing and requies much balance.
Conclusion: It is the best idea to give large amount of homes in mega cities in the form of tall buildings. I will support it because it is the best way to save land and to adjust population in limited area. If we will not make homes on the ground directly then alot of over population issues will be solved and land will be saved for other things which are more important for the existance of life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I strongly agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the central issue with relevant reasons: tall buildings use less land and can leave space for parks or other purposes. The Karachi example gives the first reason a useful personal context, while your uncle’s home illustrates how adding floors can accommodate a growing family. However, the second example is mainly about extending one family home, rather than providing enough homes across a large city, and the point about cost is introduced late and not fully explained. To strengthen the response, develop each reason more directly in relation to city-wide housing needs and explain the practical limits or conditions of building upwards.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a concession, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “However” help readers follow the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes loose: the discussion moves from land use to population issues, then to personal examples without always making the connection explicit. Several linking phrases are repetitive or mechanical, including “For all these reasons” and “Despite of all these reasons.” The conclusion also repeats the same land-saving point rather than drawing together the argument. Use clearer topic sentences and more precise references to show how each example supports the claim about housing in large cities.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “vertical direction,” “population issues,” “land,” and “apartments.” Some attempts at more specific language, such as “cost effective” and “foundations,” are relevant. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning less natural: “the best options in the high buildings,” “make the building,” and “adjust population” are examples. Spelling errors such as “stongly,” “ocuupied,” and “neccesary” are also noticeable. Build a bank of accurate housing and urban-planning phrases, and check spelling and collocations so your ideas sound more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional forms such as “if we build the structures … then a lot of population issues can be solved.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, complex sentences are often not controlled accurately, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries recur. For example, “The tall apartments plays” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “every building was consist of multiple floors” uses an incorrect verb construction. “As his younger son got married he constructed his home upwards” also needs clearer punctuation between clauses. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check each sentence for a clear subject, correctly formed verb, and appropriate punctuation.
