Student answer (Band 5.5)

These days some people seems to argue that building a tall appartment is a best way to provid home in a large cities. While othes believes that ground level home is a grater idea. i firmly believe that a high rise building is a better way to provide homes.

In the beginning it would b quite true to say that in major cities we do not have that much place to povide a traditinal home thats why a tall appartmnt is a vital way. further more appartments in a tall buildings is quite cheap as compared to ground level home so it is easy for almost everyone to buy their own home.moreover the maintainance charges is comparatively lower.and we can enjoy a beautiful views from our balcony.

On the other hand, tall appartments haav some disadvantages,In case of emergency it is difficult to came out of the building. For instance, if a fire burn at building so it is very difficult tio save people in this situation, secondly,if there is no elevator in a building so its a big issue for elder people. For exaple, if a person is a 50 or a 60 years old and its apparrment is on a 6 o 8 floor so for him it will be very difficult to get home daily.

In the conclusion, it is easy to say that a tall appartments is a best way to provides home in a major cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you firmly support high-rise housing, and you give relevant reasons, including limited space and lower purchase and maintenance costs. You also acknowledge drawbacks involving fires and access for older residents, so the response engages with the issue. However, the support is brief and some claims, such as apartments being affordable for almost everyone, are asserted rather than explained or illustrated. The conclusion simply repeats your view instead of drawing the reasons together. The response is also 11 words below the required minimum, which limits the opportunity to develop your argument. Extend the main points with explanation or a specific example, and make the conclusion more purposeful.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting high-rise housing, a paragraph presenting disadvantages, and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to follow. You use signposts such as “On the other hand,” “For instance,” and “In the conclusion” to show relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with several points joined by “further more” and “moreover” rather than developed in a clear sequence. Some punctuation and spacing also make links harder to read, particularly in the emergency example. Group related points, use referencing more clearly, and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the central ideas, including “major cities,” “emergency,” “elevator,” and “maintenance charges.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions such as “ground level home” and “high rise building.” However, the range is limited and several spelling errors are noticeable, including “appartment,” “provid,” and “traditinal.” Some word combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “a beautiful views” and “a tall appartments,” which can distract the reader. Build a bank of accurate housing and urban-planning collocations, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would also help distinguish affordability, density, and safety concerns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “While others believe that ground-level homes are a greater idea” and the sentence explaining the difficulty of leaving a building during an emergency. However, the range remains limited, and attempts to combine clauses are often faulty. Agreement and verb forms are recurring problems: “some people seems,” “others believes,” and “a tall apartments is” do not match their subjects. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “in a major cities” and the run-on emergency example. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although your main meaning is generally recoverable. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build longer sentences from correctly controlled clauses.
