Student answer (Band 6.0)

I totally agree that constructing tall apartments is of of the most effective way to provide enough accomodation in the large cities.

Firstly, tall buildings allow a large number of people to live in relatively small area. As cities are becoming very crowded and populated, available land becomes very expensive or lack of accomodation occurs. Apartments are very good option where hundereds of families can accomodate without using excessive lands. Apartments are also a very budget friendly option for students and other people. In India, several cities such as mumbai, delhi etc, are accomodating more high-rise buildings than local areas.

Secondly, they are very good alternatives of expanding cities towards agricultural lands or industrial areas. Governments may build apartments near school, college or workplace buildings, it will be very easier for people to commute and maling daily life more easier for residents.

However, certain disadvantages of building tall apartments are also there such as overcrowding, traffic at streets and presure on public facilities may become a serious problem. A proper planning may help to overcome these disadvantages.

Moreover, some people like to buy their own private houses with their personal space. Government should also work on housing facility programmes.

In conclusion, strongy believe that apartments are very effective way to provide accomodation to people living in big cities where there is shortage of land. Or in my opinion, both apartments and housing solution should be combined and properly planned in order to provide a better envronment including all comfort and sustainable surrounding.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you strongly support tall apartment buildings, and you give relevant reasons, including efficient land use, affordability, and avoiding expansion onto agricultural or industrial land. The examples of Indian cities and the possible pressure on traffic and public services also show awareness of benefits and drawbacks. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the claim that apartments are budget-friendly is not supported with a reason or example, and the final suggestion to combine apartments with other housing is not fully reconciled with your strong agreement. Develop fewer points more fully and explain how they support your position to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a paragraph acknowledging disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “However,” and “Moreover” help readers follow the main stages. Overall, the ideas are arranged coherently, but some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, the shift from the disadvantages of high-rise buildings to private houses is abrupt, and the conclusion introduces a combined housing solution without clearly connecting it to the earlier argument. Use clearer references and transitions to show how each point relates to the central claim, and group closely related ideas together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “high-rise buildings,” “agricultural lands,” “public facilities,” and “commute.” These choices make the subject clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, as in “accomodation,” “hundereds,” “presure,” and “envronment.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “alternatives of expanding cities” and “housing facility programmes.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they reduce precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for housing, urban growth, and public services.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “A proper planning may help to overcome these disadvantages” and a longer sentence about locating apartments near schools and workplaces. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “of of the most effective way,” “in relatively small area,” and “Apartments are very good option,” where articles or agreement are needed. The sentence beginning “Governments may build apartments…” also joins ideas awkwardly, while the conclusion contains an incomplete or unclear construction beginning “Or in my opinion.” Aim for more accurate articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
