Student answer (Band 5.5)
The construction of big apartment blocks are the better way to provide residence facilities. Some people prefer apartments while other may not. In my opinion, apartment blocks are a best way to provide enough homes as a large number of families can avail residences. Although it is a positive development, it can be harmful activity. The details of the arguments are given in the following pargraphs.
Now a days, the individuals are migrating from rural to urban areas. There may be high population growth, and this may create the space problems. Therefore, there may be shortage of land to build separate home for each family. So, to meet the demand of enough houses, the government should construct the apartment blocks. It is the best way to fullfill the housing needs of all people.
On the one hand, the construction of apartment blocks provide the housing facilities to all. On the other hand, it may be harmful activity. For instance, when natural disasters accure, tall buildings may collaps, causing sever damage to human lives and property. Furthermore, earthquacke cn weaken the building structures. As a result, resucue operation may become more difficult which is not a good thing.
In conclusion, the construction of tall buildings provide the housing facilities to growing population in the cities. In contrast, it is also a harmful activity as it is affected by the natural disasters for example earthquacke. Although it is a negative activity, its positive effects may outweigh its negative impacts. So, by using advance technology, the risk of damage of lives and properties can be reduced.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you support tall apartment blocks as a way to meet urban housing demand, while acknowledging risks. You address both the benefits and drawbacks, with relevant points about migration, limited land, and earthquake damage. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, the claim that apartments can house many families is repeated, while the discussion of disaster risks gives little detail beyond possible collapse and difficult rescue operations. The conclusion adds that advanced technology can reduce risks, but this solution is not explained or supported in the body. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a specific example and explain more directly why the benefits outweigh the risks.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to reasons, a discussion of risks, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish the main stages of the argument, and linking expressions such as “Therefore,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” make relationships between ideas visible. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical: “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” introduce opposing points, but the paragraph does not develop a balanced comparison between them. The conclusion also repeats earlier claims rather than drawing them together, and “Although it is a negative activity” conflicts with your stated support for apartment blocks. Use clearer references and transitions, and organise each body paragraph around one main idea with explanation and an example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main argument, including “population growth,” “shortage of land,” “natural disasters,” and “building structures.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “pargraphs,” “fullfill,” “accure,” “collaps,” and “sever.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “provide residence facilities” and “harmful activity.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall message, but they make the writing less fluent and precise. Build a more accurate set of collocations for housing and urban development, and proofread spelling carefully. Prefer specific terms such as “housing,” “residential buildings,” and “structural damage” where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures with “Therefore” and “As a result,” and a concession in “Although it is a positive development.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The construction … are” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “a best way” uses the article incorrectly. There are also issues with plural and article forms in “separate home for each family” and “the growing population.” In the conclusion, “the construction … provide” again needs agreement, while the comma after “In conclusion” is missing. Review agreement, articles, and punctuation, then check each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
